EMI at NCKU

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) values holistic education, providing creative and lively instruction that combines large- and small-class study and emphasizes interdisciplinary learning. Selected courses taught entirely in English are offered in 27 departments. The school seeks to cultivate world-class, internationally competitive individuals with sincerity and high moral integrity, characteristics that put NCKU graduates among the candidates most sought after by the business community. Having laid down a solid foundation in engineering and then expanded into liberal arts and science, NCKU gradually developed into a comprehensive university, establishing colleges such as Medicine and Social Sciences, and even an Art Center and a Museum.

The Fulbright NCKU EMI Support Office was first established during the academic year of 2023-2024. Our team aims to assist professors, students, and TAs with their EMI courses, help build a bilingual environment on campus, and also cultural sharing and exchange. Including EMI Workshops, teaching assistants training, one-on-one or group consultations, and culture events. Welcome joining us!

Coordinator

Sophia Chiang

Hi, I'm Sophia, the coordinator of the team. I grew up in Kaohsiung, studied in PingTung, and now, I’m in Tainan! Drawing upon my educational background from National PingTung University in Applied English, I am dedicated to supporting the integration of grantees into Tainan's daily routines and school environments. It brings me great satisfaction to be part of a program that contributes to the advancement of English education in Taiwan.

In my role as a coordinator, I am responsible for arranging plans, general administrations and assisting our team here at NCKU. Since our team just arrived in 2023, we are looking forward to promoting and letting more people know about us! Here you can deepen yourself in supporting EMI, teaching skills and enriching cultural sharing and exchange. We welcome you to be creative, open-minded and cooperative with resilience!

Feel free to contact me and we extend a heartfelt welcome for you to become part of the EMI program at NCKU!
